Shopping, a girl’s favorite past time. Alright, so that statement is more than a little stereotypical but it rang true when it came to Jaeden. It hardly mattered if she was surrounded by a group of friends or walking around alone (as was today’s case), she simply loved the countless wardrobe possibilities. Her father didn’t exactly discourage her from this womanly obsession, or even encourage her to spend her money wisely. Instead, he would just deposit a thousand dollars or so into her bank account whenever she ran low on cash. Needless to say, it was a rare sight to see her exiting the mall without a few bags hanging off of her sculpted arms.
Today, however, she really felt no real desire to be there. In fact, she would have much rather been laying down in an attempt to fight off the hangover that was pounding in her head. But no, her father had no intention of letting her stay home and whine all day, especially while he was trying to work. So rather than taking care of his little princess, he merely handed her the keys to his brand new 2010 corvette and told her to be on her way. This was two hours ago and she was beginning to wish that she had called Katheryne before she left to ask for some company.
Now she found herself sitting on a white bench and taking small sips out of an enormous cup of Dr. Pepper (it’s funny how much soda six dollars can buy). Watching as a number of cute guys passed by and checked her out, she found herself wishing that she had enough energy to stand up and flirt around a little. Regrettably, not all wishes come true and she instead continued to sit, waiting for the sick feeling in her stomach to subside. The last thing she wanted was to puke all over her brand new nine west flats.

Penn was going to the local university, and until this point he hadn't taken any pains to ensure he looked the part of a serious law student. He hadn't found it in himself to care. Only now that he was closer had it dawned on him. If he wanted to have even a small measure of success, he needed to look semi-respectable. It didn't matter how sleazy he really was. His parents had shown no interest in his future, and he didn't especially care if they did. He had purchased some clothes that were sure to help him look the par. Though he was sure his hangovers couldn't be hidden easily, he didn't think that they would be a problem at the new University. From what he had heard it was quite the party school. He should fit right in.
He carried his bags in one arm, and checked his phone with his free hand. He didn't find anything new, and he sighed. He slipped the phone into his back pocked, and hurried to find a place to set down. He had misjudged the amount of work shopping actually was. He found a white bench, and sat down without glancing at the other occupant. He caught his breath quickly. No wonder the mall-rats were so in shape, he joked to himself.
He glanced up, and noted the girl's eyes. They were red, and her skin was slightly pale. She looked ill. "Uh.. Are you alright, miss?" He asked indifferently. He didn't really care about the girl's well-being, but she was pretty easy on the eyes. He wouldn't mind letting her number be the first in his new phone's contact list. His eyes raked her body appreciatevely, before falling again on her face. "Soda isn't very good for illnesses," he wrinkled his nose. "You need water. Hydration is key." He told her. It took a second or two for Jaeden to realize that someone had sat down beside her, she was so caught up in her own self pity that she was paying almost no attention to what was going on around her. She gave him a sideways glance, surveying him for a split second to see if she could get any kind of reading on what kind of guy this was. From the looks of it, he wasn’t there with anyone. That was a strange sight, she realized, considering that most guys only went to malls if they were with a group of friends or if they were carrying bags for their girlfriends.
After sneaking another quick glance, Jaeden couldn’t help but smile a little to herself. This guy looked almost out of breath, as if he had been taking a jog around the mall rather than shopping for new clothes. It was actually pretty cute. Usually, she limited herself to the guys with straight black hair, piercings, and tattoos but maybe she could change that up a little and flirt around with a guy that wouldn’t exactly be described as scene.
Her headed was aching far too badly to come up with anything cute to say so she instead looked at him and gave a meek smile in hopes that he would break the silence first. It seemed to work, though not in the way that she had been anticipating. Instead of being taken aback by her and saying “Hey,” or “What’s up?” like most guys would, he jumped straight to “Are you alright?” She couldn’t have possibly looked that terrible and she was slightly offended by his directness.
Before she was even able to think about standing up and walking away from the guy, he spoke again. She sat in silence for half a second, biting her lip. Had someone addressed her like that on one of her better days, she would have probably hit them square in the jaw. She just couldn’t stand being corrected. Regardless of whether or not the person was trying to be helpful, it made her feel like she was inferior and she just wouldn’t stand for that.
Finally, she looked at him again and said in the most casual tone she could muster, ”I’m fine.” She took a deep breath to calm herself down before saying, ”I know what does and doesn’t help with hangovers by now.” Alright, so this was an obvious lie but she had too much dignity to admit that he was correct about the hydration factor. ”I’m the head of a sorority,” she added with a slight smile to lighten up the previous statement.

Penn held back a smile at the look the girl had directed at him. She seemed to judge him based on appearance, and she didn't openly scorn him. He took it as a promising sign. Either way, he wouldn't be too ardent in his pursual of her. She seemed to know that she was good looking, and that was the kind of girl that ticked him off. They felt they were entitled to anything and everything. Well, he was one thing that she wouldn't have on her own terms. He had never met a girl so full of herself, and he wondered what it would be like to have a serious conversation with her. He shook his thoughts off as she spoke. The girl was seriously annoying him, but she was hot. Damn her. He couldn't leave without making a pass, could he? He smirked at the girl's response. She definitely didn't look fine, but then, he was used to having to find the signs of a hangover. "Do you?" He demanded. There was an impatient light in his eyes. He didn't take kindly to people who liked to lie to somebody's face. "Which sorority, Kappa Phi Nu?" He openly mocked her. He knew very well that she wasn't that kind of girl. Her present appearance was clear evidence to that. He was only baiting her. "What is so great about being the head of a sorority, that you think entitles you to lie to someone? To pretend you are a bigger person? Do you know who I am?" His eyes were hard. His mouth was a grim line. He shook his head. "Damn, you're a bit concieted, no?" He smiled ruthlessly at her. He had been told that his smiled was both enchanting and charming. He ran a hand through his hair and looked at her again. "And I'm being a jerk..." He trailed off. He shoved his hands in his pocket and stood up. "You really do need some water or gatorade. Protest all you want, but I'll still get you one." He vowed. He made his way to the Evian machine, and inserted the money. He offered the water to her, but didn't take his seat back. "I'm willing to stand here and force you to drink it." He told her in his most serious tone. He could picture it clearly in his mind, and the thought made him smile cynically. Notes: So is he. xD Credit: Text by nick-eh ?! @ Caution 2.0

Who the hell was he to sit here and mock her? She hadn’t even been the one to start this ridiculous conversation, she had merely defended herself. It wasn’t as if she was feeling like shit already or anything, and obviously he was able to pick up on that. She wanted badly to stand up and walk away, showing him that she had little care over any word that he said. She just couldn’t move, as if she had been glued to that bench, she had to stand her ground. It wasn’t every day that someone confronted her like this and even when someone did, it was never a guy. She just wasn’t going to let all of this go that easily.
Alright, so he was clever, she would give him that one. She never did like smart guys though, hence why she usually went for the drop outs or pot heads. ”Gamma Psi Alpha, actually,” she said, leaning back. He asked her if she knew who he was and she smiled a little to herself, shaking her head a little. Obviously he wasn’t that important or she would have seen him around before. However, shooting insults back and forth seemed like a real drag, so she reached into her purse and pulled out her iPod touch.
Before she even got to put her ear buds in her ears, he was talking again. What the hell was it with this guy? Why did he feel the need to ridicule someone that he knew absolutely nothing about? It took her a second to realize that he wasn’t ridiculing her anymore though, he was being pretty decent. ”I umm…” she said as he stood up, suddenly feeling a bit better about this guy. Maybe he wasn’t the asshole that she had pegged him for.
Taking the water bottle from his hand, she smiled up at him a little and said, ”That won’t be necessary… Thank you.” She took a sip out of it and held her Dr. Pepper out to him, offering it to him as an exchange. ”I’m Jaeden.” she said, running her hand through her long hair, ”You got a name?”

"I figured." He said derisevely. She had looked and acted the part of a party girl, it was no wonder she was their ringleader. She was overconfident, hungover, and high-strung. Some guys found that sort of thing attractive, but usually it only annoyed him more. It made him want to show them their place, and keep them in it. He was unsurprised that she didn't know him. She acted all high and mighty, but he had guessed that she hadn't partied with his core group of friends yet. He wasn't going to enlighten her as to exactly who he was. She would find out soon enough. It wouldn't be long until her sorority planned a mixer with his fraternity. "You actually said thank you? I thought that was below you," he teased lightly. Even when he was feeling more soft Penn was always a jerk. He studied her as she offered him the Dr. Pepper. Taking a sip, he sat back down. Soda wasn't his favorite, he only usually drank it with his alcohol, and never for a chaser. In his group of friends, you chased hard stuff with more. If you asked for something else, you were labeled a pussy. He would never live it down if he did. He watched her hand as she ran it through her luxiourious hair. He wondered what it would feel like between his own fingers. "Penn." He replied. Jaeden was an unusual name, but he had heard it before. "I have heard about you." He told her. His friends had mentioned her name from time to time in relation to some party they had gone to. He didn't go everywhere with them, some nights he liked to go bar hopping alone. It gave him time to just be depressed. All of his friends were infatuated with her. They had nothing but good things to say, and every one of them always ended up drooling. He thought it was ironic. "I bet you don't allow people to call you Jae." He raised an eyebrow, as if to dare her to correct him. He wouldn't expect her to. If she did allow people to shorten her name, she would have just told him her nickname, or so he thought. He took a longer drink of the soda. He wondered why she had gotten it if she knew it wouldn't help her.

So she wasn’t exactly the most courteous of people, but that didn’t mean that manners were beneath Jaeden. If people showed her a decent amount of respect, she had nothing against showing them some in return. However, that rule also applied for disrespect. She quite literally treated people how they treated her, and that system seemed to work well for her so far. ”What? You don’t think I can have manners?” she asked him, smiling lightly to let him know that she was just giving him a hard time. Once you got past the bluntness, she found herself realizing, he was a pretty decent guy. ”Don’t make assumptions about me,” she said, laughing ever so slightly, ”Because I’ll totally surprise you.”
So he had heard about her, she knew that he would recognize her name. However, she had not expected herself to recognize his. ”You’re a frat boy,” she said, nodding a little, ”I have heard of you. Zeta Alpha Rho, was it?” Of course she knew the answer already, considering that none of her sorority sisters would ever party with any frat boys that weren’t members of Zeta Alpha Rho. Jocks and brainiacs just weren’t their types. And unfortunately, the partiers, jocks, and nerds, were the only current Jersey City fraternities.
She couldn’t help but laugh quietly at his next comment, shaking her head a little before saying, ”A lot of people call me Jae.” Although she often introduced herself as Jaeden most of the time, she actually preferred for people to call her by her nickname. It probably traced back to when her mother was still alive and rarely called her anything besides Jae or Jade. The latter nickname had become lost over the years, which actually upset Jaeden. ”Or Jade,” she quickly added, hoping that if he decided to call her by it that it might catch on.
”So what about you?” she asked him, putting her hand to her forehead for a brief second in hopes that the pain might subside. She took another sip of water before continuing with, ”Is Penn short for anything?” She knew it was a stupid question but she felt the need to ask him something in return, just to show him that she wasn’t just interested in talking about herself.

Penn studied her face again. He might have made some miscalculations on the type of girl she was. She wasn't the total bitch he had her pegged as. He refused to let his revelation show on his face, though. "Yes. That is my fraternity." He told her dryly. He was actually surprised that she had heard of him. He didn't think he had made such an impression on her sisters that they would talk about him. He rubbed the scruff on the side of his cheek before taking another drink. He needed to shave, but it would have to wait until later. Most girls found his scruff adorable, but they didn't like the way it felt against their creamy skin. They had never told him that, though. Nobody wanted to risk pissing him off. He found it funny in a way. "They do?" He raised an eyebrow. None of his friends had called her by either name, but it didn't surprise him. They usually neglected to use names at all. They simply referred to girls as 'a nice piece of meat', 'that one brunette', or 'that one hot mama'. The use of her name had spoken legions about how much they valued her. "Which do you prefer?" He smiled slowly. "I think I like Jade, it's prettier."He watched as she pressed her hand to her temple. He knew that she had a headache. He fished his wallet out of his back pocket and retrieved a packet of ibuprofen that was inside. He kept them on hand for his worst hangovers. They were horrible for his stomach, but they helped his headaches go away. So long as he drank pleanty of water, it worked. "My dad is from Pennsylvania." He gave her a wry smile. "While my name is just Penn, he was thinking of that when I was named. Origional, huh?" He looked at the floor. He had always hated his name, but it was his. He couldn't cast it aside, and didn't want a nickname from anybody. He broke open the packet and offered her two pills. "Take these." He ordered her. He never once considered that she might find it rude. Nobody disobeyed his direct orders. It was the regular dose for an adult, but he was slightly worried because she was on the small side. He wondered if she ate. He had heard that she wanted to be a model.. Some of them didn't get enough nourishment. He frowned slightly.

Jaeden still couldn’t get over the fact that she was actually attracted to Penn. It just wasn’t like her; she usually blew guys like him off because they always seemed arrogant in her mind. She had never found stubble attractive either, or any amount of facial hair for that matter. However, he looked borderline adorable with his unshaven face, she was almost tempted to reach out and pet him. That would be pretty damn weird though, so she refrained from it.
”Of course they do,” Jaeden told him, slightly surprised that he didn’t yet know how rapidly names spread around this city, ”You’re a guy worth talking about.” Of course, she was shamelessly flirting, she never complimented guys otherwise. She smiled gently and blushed like a shy little girl when he said he preferred Jade. ”I like Jade too,” she told him, nodding a little, ”It was my mom’s favorite stone. She wanted to name me Jadeite but my dad found that weird.” Saying this reminded her of the funeral, she couldn’t believe that it had been so long ago. She remembered approaching the casket and dropping in a jade necklace and the scene suddenly made her want to burst out in tears.
Pennsylvania, she smirked a little as she said it. If this conversation actually led to something, she’d probably call him that from time to time. Hey, how many girls could actually say that they could fit all of Pennsylvania inside of them? Okay, bad joke. ”I like it,” she told him, and it was the truth, ”It has meaning.” She had always been a firm believer that names should have some kind of significance in them so that children could carry on a piece of their parents everywhere that they went. Of course, this probably had to do with the loss of her mother at a young age.
As he handed her the pills, she couldn’t help but wonder why he would carry them around in the first place. Still, she was grateful for them. It had been hours since she had woken up and taken two adult doses of advil. Come to think of it, that was probably why she was crashing so terribly. She dropped the pills into her mouth and took a huge gulp of water. Her stomach was pretty sensitive as it was so she didn’t want to take any chances by swallowing them dry. ”Thanks, you’re a lifesaver…” she told him appreciatively. ”So… Are you new around here? I haven’t seen you around.”

"Oh really?" He raised an eyebrow, surprised at compliment. "My boys remembered your name, I can definitely see why." He grinned. She was pretty enticing, he wasn't going to lie, and that wasn't even counting the kudos he would get for getting with her in the first place. They didn't matter much to him. He was beyond that. He didn't need anything to be he usual suave and charming self. It was why he had been elected to the presidency so quickly after enrolling at the university. Even the guys had fallen for him in their weird ways.
"But Jaeden isn't weird?" He bit the inside of his cheek to keep from making another comment. He wanted so badly to be serious, but he couldn't make himself. He did find her name a little bit weird, but it was a good name. It was memorable. It fit her. He was surprised in the turn of conversation. He was intriuged by Jade, and he wanted her to keep talking. He liked the sound of her voice. It was unlike any he had heard. It made him want to lean in and lose himself in conversation. It was an odd feeling.
"Meaning." He snorted. He really doubted that, knowing his father. The only thing that had meaning to him was money. There wasn't anything he wouldn't do to make sure they had pleanty. He wondered if it was the 'provider' part of being a man, or if his dad just wanted to shove it in the faces of others in his social set. "He was probably drunk when he persuaded my mother to write it down as my name. He likes being sober just as much as I do." He frowned. He wondered if being an alcoholic was in his blood. If so, he knew he wouldn't have a chance.
"Hey, no problem." He replied with a quick smile. He was used to having to save the day. It made him feel better about himself most of the time. "Busy night?" He asked, reffering to the hangover. Most of the girls he knew didn't drink every night. He couldn't say that he had really hung out with Jade's sorority sisters any more than anybody else. "I'm new enough. Transfer this next semester." He bit his lip. "The guys are happy to have me.. I guess." He shrugged modestly. He hadn't really given much thought to the amount of time he had speant in the city. It already felt like home to him.

”They did, did they?” Jaeden asked him, smiling as girlishly as she could manage and leaning in a little closer to him. Of course she wasn’t going to say anything directly, but she knew that soon enough she was going to get him in bed one way or another. After all, they were the heads of the two wildest groups of people in Jersey City. It would almost be a crime for them not to sleep together. ”They’re good boys,” she told him, nodding a little, ”Which is exactly why I couldn’t sleep with any of them. Shame isn’t it.” Alright, so they weren’t exactly good boys but she had hope that stating she had never slept with any of his friends because they weren’t bad enough would make him want her even more. Boys were just weird like that.
She couldn’t help but laugh a little when he asked his question. ”Well yeah, it’s a little abnormal but not weird,” she told him, shaking her head, ”There are plenty of people with my name.” This last statement bothered her, she usually just didn’t recognize it so that she could claim that her name was unique just like her. Maybe it would have been better if her mother had named her Jadeite, it would have most likely guaranteed never bumping into someone with the same name.
”Hey,” Jaeden said as Penn mentioned that his father had probably been drunk when naming him, ”A lot of people are the most honest when they’re drunk. Maybe your name really did mean something to him.” It was a shot in the dark, she was well aware of this, she hardly knew Penn let alone his family. But hey, it was worth the effort to make him feel a little better about his father. She couldn’t really relate to his situation, considering that she had been Daddy’s Little Princess since what seemed like the moment she was conceived.
Had it been a busy night? She hadn’t even thought about the previous night until now. It wasn’t entirely clear to her what had happened; all she could remember was sitting down at a bar with the girls. Apart from that little tidbit, she really had no recollection of the night. Considering that she woke up at her father’s house, she must have called him at some hour to pick her up. ”I guess so,” she told him, nodding a little, ”I really don’t remember much of it.”
”Well, I’d be happy to have you too…” she told him, laughing slightly as she put her hand on his shoulder, ”You’re good to have around.” It was true, he was pretty much a godsend. Had he not sat next to her, she probably would have passed out by now. It was kind of nice to meet someone that seemed to care about her. ”So where are you from?” she asked after a moment, ”Not from here, I’m guessing.”

He pretended not to care as Jade moved closer to him. "Too good?" He chuckled. "They're a group of boy scouts," he murmured dryly. He knew very well that they were the most racacuous group in Jersey City, and he wondered why that wasn't good enough for her. She would be damned lucky to have any one of his boys. Maybe he could show her that by pretending that she wasn't bad enough for him. It might be pretty funny. "But you could sleep with a score of other men?" He teased her lightly. He knew that she could have just about anybody she damned well pleased. He wondered if it would drive her up the wall to not be able to have him. The thought made him smile.
"It isn't weird?" He continued to raz her. "Name one!" He laughed openly and bumped her shoulder with his own. He was just being silly, and he knew it. It really didn't bother him, though. He didn't give a damn what she thought. Why should he? "You know, I myself would prefer to have an uncommon name. That way when somebody said it, they would immediately think of me, and not somebody else." He told her.
"Don't defend him. You don't know him." He grimaced. His father wasn't horrible, but he wasn't exactly the best. He knew his fathers flaws, and he wasn't above pointing them out. If there was something wrong with somebody, he would rather know exactly what it was so it couldn't come back to hurt him later. "I'm a sarcastic jerk who only has one thing on his mind when I'm drunk. I take after my dear old dad." He told her. "Of course, you've never seen me drunk.. So you wouldn't know." He condemned himself. He knew his own flaws as well. He felt it was best to know them and tell others of them, so that they wouldn't be unaware.
"I know how that goes!" He smirked. He rarely had memory of nights, but he could vivdly recall most of the mornings. He had perfected the art of sneaking out through a window.. Except for the time when he was on the second story, and didn't look before he climbed out. He had ended up with a broken arm, and the girl who he had been sneaking away from had been livid. It was much worse than it would have been to just leave through the door and take the hell that her parents would have given him , had they been home. He had recieved a broken arm, a cussing, and a nice medical bill all in avoiding parents that weren't even there at the time he left.
Penn found a double-meaning in the girl's words, and had to hold back the laughter that seemed to come so easily from him when she was there. Her touch blazed through his shirt, reminding him of his attraction to her. "Manhatten.." He shrugged off her hand. It was a larger place, and the people were even more crazy. He didn't miss it at all. "And you?"

Laughing a little, Jaeden nodded and said teasingly, ”I’d say closer to girl scouts… Well, you know, compared to some of the men that I know.” Of course she didn’t want to legitimately make fun of his friends; she actually enjoyed their company from time to time. To lighten the situation a little, she placed her hand on his knee for a couple of seconds before taking it off again. ”Nah, they’re actually pretty cool,” she told him, suddenly feeling bad about comparing a group of guys to girl scouts¬. As he commented on her “score of other men”, she shrugged a little and said, ”I only go for the best.” So that statement sort of contradicted her previous one about only sleeping with bad boys, but she didn’t really care. All she was interested in was making him feel like he couldn’t have her if he tried. Yeah, that was a little cruel but it was all in good humor.
”Well,” Jaeden said, drawing the word out for an extra second or two. She had to think about this one, she had definitely heard her name before but definitely couldn’t pinpoint where. Then it hit her. ”There was this girl I went to elementary school with,” she told him, ”Though she spelled it, with a J-A-Y. I spell it with a J-A-E.” She highly doubted that he was actually interested in this girl that Jaeden had known like a decade ago, but she still felt the need to be specific. Come to think of it though, she could not remember that girl’s last name. Not that it mattered, she wasn’t going to go home and look her up on facebook or something. ”I get that,” she told him, nodding a little, ”That’s exactly why I like to be the only Jaeden around.”
”Alright, I’ll take it back then,” Jaeden told him, shrugging slightly and rolling her eyes, ”Your old man was a drunken idiot that gave you a stupid name.” She was being sarcastic, of course. That was one of the things that she did best. She smiled a little as he offered up a bit of himself to her, she liked it when conversations got personal. ”No, I haven’t seen you drunk,” she agreed with him, ”But I think that I might need to, considering that I also only have one thing on my mind when I drink.” Unfortunately, it was true, she became incredibly shameless when she was drunk. This was not to say that she was an angel while sober, alcohol just made her ten times worse. Of course, she didn’t see this as a flaw, she saw it as a gift that resulted in countless nights of fun.
”Yeah, it’s probably the worst thing that comes from drinking,” she said, holding her hand to her head. It wasn’t that she enjoyed the nausea or headaches that came with the hangovers, she just absolutely despised it when she couldn’t even remember the night that brought them on. ”What’s even worse is when you’re the only person that can’t remember what shit went down,” she added. With Jaeden, that was often the case. She was often the person in the group that had twice as many drinks or joints as everyone else and she always regretted it the following morning.
Jaeden wouldn’t have pegged him for a New York City boy. She had imagined that he had come from a small town or something, she didn’t know why, that was just the vibe that she had gotten from him. Obviously, she was pretty fail when it came to reading people. ”I’ve lived in the suburbs since I was twelve,” she told him, running her fingers through her hair, ”Before that, I lived in Los Angeles.”

"Mhmm, and you're a saint!" He threw at her. He didn't believe for one second that any of his boys were like girl scouts. No matter how much she wanted to rile him, he couldn't allow it. "And where do I rank compared to them?" His jaw twitched. He wondered if she would admit that she was attracted to him. He certainly was to her. He didn't know if he could be honest with her, though. She would probably lose interest in him just as quickly as her other playthings. He was genuinely curious, but he knew that she couldn't help but be attracted. Every girl was, or so he figured.
"I wasn't being serious." He directed at her, watching a couple walk past. They were holding hands, and he wondered how they really felt about eachother. He had seen how somebody could lead another person on. He had felt how bad it hurt first hand. He could just imagine what was going on in the girl's head. He bet it would be the worst. "Well, any girl who shared a name with you would certainly be more of a wallflower." He commented. Jade was wild and unpredictable from what he had heard. There was no way that any other girl could compete with her for attention. Especially if they shared a name. Jade would certainly pop into your head first. She had probably lived for that. She heard she was something of an attention whore.
He cut his gaze back to her. He had to fight to keep the venom from his voice. "You could just stop talking about him. You obviously don't know a thing about him. It's best to leave it alone." He practically spat. He hated it when people tried to patronize him, and he figured that she wAs doing just that. He took a deep breath and ruffled his hair. "See, the only problem with that, is that I don't want to take advantage of a lady such as yourself." He said sarcastically. He would definitely like to get with her. There was no doubt in his mind that he would. It was just a matter of when. He wanted to draw it out. It would be more amusing that way. He knew that she could play cat and mouse just as well as he could, maybe better.
"I know what you mean." He patted her hand before he knew what he was doing. He felt bad for her that she couldn't remember. He wished that he could change it for her. He knew well the feeling that came when everybody else knew what you had done the other night. They could make up a story, and you would never know if it was true or not. You just had to trust the people. The only problem with that was that you had to consider the source. His friends liked to pull his leg. They got off on making shit up, and he usually was on the recieving end on most of their funny 'jokes'. It was the price he paid for being the head of his fraternity. They were a rowdy bunch, and it was how they showed their emotion.
"Los Angeles, eh?" He asked. "So my comment about you being a saint wasn't to far off, miss angel?" He teased her again. He lived giving her shit. It was too easy. He wondered why she hadn't commented on his town. He was quite proud of where he came from. He was able to survive the tough parts of town, and he knew they were more intense than Jersey City could ever be.
